Miramar is a traditional holiday destination for the Argentinian Jewish community.
It is a beach town located 430 km away from Buenos Aires, by a road that goes through resort towns.
In February 2011, President Cristina Kirchner visited the town to take part in a commemoration of the victims of the AMIA bombing in front of the memorial monument located in the square facing the casino.
On that occasion, mayor Patricio Hogan declared: This is a cherished location by entire generations of the Jewish community. I have seen and studied how Miramar has grown thanks to the contribution of the Jewish community.
