Shaarei Shalom United Congregation of Israelites synagogue was rebuilt on Duke Street, using concrete material instead of brick, by the Henriques brothers in 1912.

This Synagogue, is one of the few in the world, that has sand for its floor, designed and built according to the traditional sephardic style by Jamaican Jew Rudolph Daniel Cohen Henriques and his brothers.

Around 200 worshippers attend.

The congregation is responsible for the Hillel Academy, an a school with both elementary and high school levels in Kingston.

They also run a Jewish home for the elderly.

The synagogue offers religious services and a Hebrew school.
